The Wait

On Wednesday, I (Amy) had another doctor's appointment. Everything is still going well. I am dilated to about 3 cm. It is just a waiting game now. I guess she could be born at any time. I almost have everything ready for the baby's birth. I am packing my bag today. Tonight Cassidy and Callie are going to a Siblings Class at the hospital. I wanted to make it until after their class. It looks like that will not be a problem.

I will be sure to let everyone know when we have the baby and keep you updated.

Please say a prayer for me and the new baby. Pray that she comes at the right time and that she is healthy. Pray that all goes well with the delivery. I would appreciate it. Thank you.

The Lunar Eclipse--Pictures by Yours Truly on #33

The heavens gave me a nice birthday present tonight--the last total lunar eclipse until 2010! Taking advantage of this opportunity, I found myself outside in the frigid air to take a few pictures as the moon entered totality within the Earth's shadow. Alright, so that sounds a little geekish, but who cares! It's really cool!!!!

Enjoying the Snow Days

I had today off for a snow day. We took advantage of it by doing some cleaning, shopping and going out to eat at The Pasta House. It was a really good day. This evening I had just settled down for an evening of political entertainment (watching the election returns from the Potomac primary), when I got a call from the phone tree again---School Canceled Again Tomorrow! I shouldn't be too happy I suppose, because we will have to make up these days. That said, I needed a break, and I will certainly make the most of it.

Good News

I (Amy) went to the doctor this afternoon. I am very happy to report that the baby has turned head down like she should be. I can now stop worrying about having a c-section. I was pretty concerned for a while. Everything else was good with the baby. We are looking forward to the birth of our new little girl.

We will try to keep you updated.

It snowed quite a bit last night and today. I got to stay home from school! Here are a couple of short videos of the kids playing in the snow. I thought I would share them with everyone.

A Bit Concerned (by Amy)

I thought I would give an update on the progress of the pregnancy. I went to the doctor yesterday. Everything looks good. The baby is getting bigger everyday.

The only concern is the position of the baby. Dr. Smith used the ultrasound machine to check if the baby's head is down yet. It actually is not. Hopefully she will go head down on her own. If she does not, then Dr. Smith is going to try to manually turn her to the head down position. From internet research, I think this has to be done at the hospital and involves a bit of discomfort for the mom. If she cannot turn her, then we will have to schedule a c-section. I am a little afraid of having a c-section. I had both Cassidy and Callie the natural way. I know what that is like and what to expect during delivery and recovery. I am just unsure about the c-section. I am just praying and believing our baby will naturally turn on her own and everything will go smoothly. I believe Dr. Smith is going to give the baby a couple of weeks before she tries to turn her.

I am at the point in pregnancy where I will be going to the doctor every week until the baby is born. Dr. Smith will check next week to see if the baby has moved into the head down position.
